Christmas Letter
Dear Friends,
This year I bought the rights to ScottMcCann.com, and I hope to be here for a long time to come.  I’m excited to use this site to maintain current friendships as well as future ones.  For those who have received this email, please feel free to pass it on to other friends who I might not have included.  As you know, this year has been filled with an economic slowdown and conflicts around the world. I’m very glad to say that I did not know anyone who was killed in the Sept.11 attack.  However, it has affected everyone’s life, some more than others.  My sister works for United Airlines, but she was not flying that day and we are very thankful.
I’m sorry that I have not sent my Christmas card out earlier; I have been swamped with many activities. So lets call this a
Chinese New Year card being that it is in February. Have a Happy New Year in the year of the horse.  This year my good friends, Michiel and Francisca DeZwaan, came from Holland to spend Christmas in Dallas with my family and I.  Michael is an old high school friend from Taiwan, and it was good to see him again. Work has been tough this year with Motorola laying off 30% of its employees worldwide in the most difficult down turn that the semiconductor industry has ever seen.  Outside of work, this year has been a home improvement one for me.  Having traveled most of last year, it was time to save money and work on my house.  I re-tiled my bathrooms as well as painted and stuccoed the walls of the master bath.  I also learned what it is like when you’re A/C unit goes out on you in the middle of the summer in Texas, while you are working on your house. I undestand that this will be an endless task, but one that I look forward to continuing.  This year has also been filled with lots of fun with great friends.  It seems like almost every weekend this summer we were off on another road trip.  If it was not tubing down the Frio River, camping, taking a trip to someone’s lake house, it was going to A&M football games. This summer however, I was able to break away from the activities in Austin and attend two weddings.  The first was in St. Louis, Missouri, for my cousin Davis and his new wife, Kim.  I had a great time and was envious of him getting married in his dress blues as a Lieutenant in the Army.  The second was in Lawrence, Kansas, for my cousin Anna and her new husband, William.
Linked to this letter are pictures of friends here in Austin.  I would love to include everyone on this page in the future, so if you send me a digital picture of yourself "in action" I will post it on my
friends page.  I hope all is well with you in the year 2002. Please drop me a line so that we can catch up.  God Bless!
